This is basically the arc tube from a 70W metal halide lamp being driven a 700W so as to get a brigher arc for better optical performance. Of course the electrodes are beefed up to prevent them being instantaneously vaporised, but the quartz bulb is not much larger so the loading on it is immense. Because of this, the lifetime is rather short for all of the short arc metal halides.

50,000 lumens from a 70watt arc gap, thats awsome Very Happy , quartz is some tough stuff!
Could you, in theory, run this on a 700watt MBF set up?
