They do look wrong don`t they? Very Happy , but this is usually the norm for 100watt SON.

Is this because they would have been used as a replacement for 125w mercs, with retrofit ballast?

thats a shame! how did it get popped? it looks like quite an old one with the ceramic insulator base, popped as in "the what you thought was an extra-low-loss 100W SON ballast was actually a 1000W SON ballast with the 3rd zero rubbed off the etch" or popped as in it got dropped and broken? if the later and the arc tube is still intact I suppose its worth chucking up a photo of the arc tube Smile
