Shocked Never known one do that before?

This must've put on a bloody good EOL show in its dying moments!

I've had T12's do this during a good EOL show but not a T8 which normally don't do anything interesting at EOL. Your colour 35's seem to be as common over there as 33 cool-whites are here, climate thing maybe? Colour 35's are very rare here.

What's that stupid thing attached to the shield?

Was this over driven? I've known 2' 18Ws to operate cold cathode for short periods at EOL but never long enough to do this much damage.

It is Al! Until the last few years colour 35 was the standard colour supplied with almost every fitting manufactured! I guess it became the preference as it strikes a comfortable balance between warm and cool.

LOL must've been tortured! As Eliot says, krypton T8s can't keep an arc going for long when they're EOL!

I'll explain, it was VERY near EOL - Heavy blackening. I tried it on the 135w SOX, that didn't work, so I tried it on the 70w, and it lasted for 2 days... So then I connected it to a 125w fluorescent ballast, and it lasted a few seconds!
