Fantastic lamp! I wouldn't risk running it, the arc tubes in older sodium lamps are quite vulnerable to sodium attack and can easily crack, especially after this many years! The other problem is argon clean up with old lamps that haven't been used for some time, they may strike, warm up and you think it's all good, power them down and next time you come to use them they refuse to strike and then that's it!

I'm loving this great old lamp! Has a real Russian engineered look with those substantial end caps! Wouldn't this need a good burn-in of at least 6 hours to overcome the argon clean-up issue? I'd run it for a full 24!
