Unknown Post Top Lantern

The lanterns in McDonalds were converted to LED in the last refit, from MBF.

Given how recently those were installed at the McDonalds near where I live, I'd always assumed they were halide and not mercury?

I know what you mean, a difficult one to be sure when you see them. I never saw much colour change or deviation between lamps, so decided they were MBF. Tom and a couple others believed them to be MBF too.

I guess a look at one during the day when switched off would be the answer - can see what lamp is in it then. Alas, I only ever seem to end up at the drive-thru late at night, so not likely to find out!

These were running Osram HQL 125w MBF which were only installed around 2007/8 time! The other McD's near me still has it's mercs for now... 85w Sylvania Relumina CMH retrofits would be a far more logical replacement!
