BC tube

Post by Dez » Fri Jul 01, 2011 9:15 pm

Hi Everyone

I have a BC TUBE and fitting and when I install the fitting on the ceiling, I will use the BC tube, even though I have a couple of BC to BI PIN adaptors, I will not use a modern tube In a such a vintage fitting, if I find a ATLAS 5ft tube or a early Thorn 5ft tube or a 5ft Thorn coloured T12 tube, however I dont really want to use the BC TUBE, but a modern tube will not look nice so if you could help me find a ATLAS 5ft tube or a early Thorn 5ft Fluorescent Tube or a Thorn 5ft coloured tube, please contact me

Hi funlightbulb you really SHOULDNT use that BC tube, they are so rare and only have a 3000 Hr life span, Just stick any old T12 tube in until you find a 5' Thorn tube, I have some Thorn 5' tubes but i was planning on keeping them for my dimmable atlantics!

Well on thew packet of mine which colin dated for me it says 3000 Hrs!! See the gallery! Still i wouldnt be using it given as to how rare they are! You fitting has the covers over the BC holders so you wouldnt even be able to tell that you had a BC tube or not!

Don't forget Early Lamps and Tubes didn't last as long as Modern Tubes, looking at my old AEI Mazda Catalogue they show the average life of a MBF/U Mercury Lamp as 5000 Hours, today they hace a average life of 24000 Hours that almost 5 times longer, and todays Fluorescent Tubes will last 10000 to 16000 Hours Average.
