Weird old lamps listed in my book
I have this old Fluorescent lamp maintenance book, I noticed some strange wattage lamps in here. The only lights they do show have BC ends on so maybe these were all made in BC? There is no date in the book but i suspect its late 50s?

Yes heard of the 50W and 70W T8s (single pin though!), not the 75W T12s though! Any other weird lamps listed?

Re: Weird old lamps listed in my book
Yes I've seen those strange 8' T8 50/70w tubes listed in a 50s Mazda catalogue posted on Lamptech along with some other strange cold cathode types. There was also another type of cap called RDC or someting which was another form of 2 pin cap where the contacts were inside some form of shroud? Never seen any of the fittings or lamps tho. They must have all been scrapped before any of us were born!
I LOVE LAMP!

Im sure Xmaslightguy can help us out here with the RDC end caps! They are common in the states, I didnt even realise they were out here at one point?

Re: Weird old lamps listed in my book
I think RDC stands for Recessed Dual Connector, maybe they were trialled on 8' lamps due to the length and weight the pins support? There's obviously little or no chance of finding one of these now.

Re: Weird old lamps listed in my book
RDC can also be said as "Recessed Double Contact". Its used for HO (and some VHO) lamps here
A 75w 8'T12 is a standard single-pin "slimline" lamp here
There was an old version 8' 50w single-pin slimline lamp as well (the modern slimlineT8 's are 58w)
The 8' HO lamps with a RDC endcap are 110w
If you guys want, I can post pictures of both the single-pin/slimline & RDC endcaps

Re: Weird old lamps listed in my book
Yes that would be cool, I am guessing they were trying to introduce such lamps here in the 50s!
