I find that if you approach the contractors themselves when doing the work they are usually very accomodating.... :)

Leeds has gone PFI??? I thought they were still installing SOX up there? I have just grabbed 3 Beta 2 fittings a couple weeks ago from contractors.

I'll try, but I only have my Desire HD to take a photo with, so I can't zoom in much, I think they're MH. They're crap, too dim.

We are now 2 month away from completing the lamppost renewal programme in Leeds - in that time we have installed 72,000 new posts and removed 70,000 old ones.

Ideal when did you get this tonight?? So you got 2 MA fittings? They are normally ok when you see the actual guys onsite. Get some photos up. What are they changing the fittings for there? Probably Iridiums 250W SON?

Also Nice to see that leeds council have given their work to SSE contracting. Talk about sh!tting all over the local guys i HATE SSE

Yes the Best thing is to see the guys on Site as they will kindly give you a couple of Lights Lamps Gear etc, Always offer them Beer Money as they would be appreaciated, and if they are in your area they will also drop street lights lamps etc off for you, it's how I got three Lighting Columns all for £5 Beer Money

I recently find Phoning the Local Council and Calling in your Local depot used to be great, However, Due to recent Regulations (Health & Safety Laws and Especially with WEEE Regulations), and Red Tape Beurocracy, they no longer wish to help,

RE Contactors they too can be a Hit and Miss, I have had some whi are very Helpfull, but some can be like the Council, thye say they need to save the Lights and return them to the Council, but in the end they end up smashed in a skip, however again the guys who are removing the Lights are more helpfull especially when you ask them for the lights they have taken down and you slip them a few quid Beer Money.

Don`t know how they do it down your way Kev, but Cheshire Highways usually replace MA 50s with 150watt SON / HPS lamps.">SON-T.

The lads that remove the lanterns around here the HIAB guys are very helpful they know I'm a collector and will save stuff for me, however my BIGGEST help, the faults guy for around here sadly died suddenly in february, he went out of his way to help me, I have now been talking to the new faults guy, He seems to be starting to kind of open up to me and is starting to help me out abit more. but at first he was saying that the council wanted the lights back for repair, but now he's starting to give me bits. slowly but surely.

I have once been told to f*ck off by one of the faults guys...

I normally just go up to them not just for gear, but for a chat, I'll go up to them and say hi, how are you, have abit of a natter then at the end ask if there is anything like Photocells I can take from them.

In the other Depot where i did my works expierience, EVERYBODY went out their way to help me with my collection, I got on with everybody there- well not the bosses, nuff said about those
