70s Street lighting Vid

Postby amtrakuk » Mon Feb 01, 2016 10:42 am

This looks to be a top deck of a London bus, but showing some spectacular views including the large quantity of fluorescent and SOX street lighting with the absence of SON and old Tin Plessey traffic lights.

Note how shocking the driving standard was!

I enjoyed watching that.

The lack of road markings and lanes didn't help back then, but even though it was a free for all on the roads - I didn't notice any aggression.

Great bit of footage! Loved seeing all the old streetlights and vehicles! Note the distinct lack of pedal cyclists.... Back when people had sense! Come another 45 years there'll be no shortage of dash cam and Go-pro footage of London and we'll all look back on just how stupid some cyclists were! But will we marvel at the 'early' days of LED streetlights?
I LOVE LAMP!

Nahh I doubt we'll marvel at LED street lighting. Mind you I seemed to remember the Flouros weren't great even though the were high density installed. What I find funny is there people used common sense and drove carefully, these days its a Blame culture and "It weren't my fault".

If i remember correctly weren't large directional signs lit with what looked like a spotlight on a protruding arm, Lit with a Merc? I know the old Tin Plessey Traffic light aspects were lit with 240 volt 60 watt GLS lamps
