A couple of very interesting things...

Postby SuperSix » Fri Dec 28, 2012 5:00 pm

A couple of articles I've come across while trawling the net:

http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.js ... %3D5524038

http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/articleD ... +Magazines

Patents pending for designs of ultra low loss magnetic ballasts for the long T5s! :o Claiming to be even more efficient and much more reliable then electronic ballasts! Keep everything crossed that something like this becomes a success! :woohoo

Yes this is a step in the right direction! I didn't think there was a hope for long T5s! I must admitt though the 80w in my barn on the K85e is still running a treat and is very bright!
Looks like the company making them are based in china though! I'd love to get hold of a few of these to try! Wonder if they can be taken to bits / adapted to run starters!!

All I can say is fair play to the Chinese for having a bash at reversing the HF trend!

AND... If these break the market, it could herald a whole new era in T5 fluorescent street lighting! Imagine slimmed down versions of yesteryear's lanterns running 54w and 80w HO T5s? Ahh, nice to dream!
I LOVE LAMP!

I'm not a fan of the higher wattage T5's. Too much glare tbh.

I like F54T5's (am using some as plant lights .. where I had F40T12's before) so nice & bright...but who knows how long the HF gear will do.

Would love to have a mag ballast for T5's
