Semi paralel ignitors.

Postby FrontSideBus » Wed Apr 04, 2012 3:31 pm

Just recently acquired a 250w Philips BSN 250 L34 SON/MH ballast and it has an SN58 listed on the wiring diagram. The only SP ignitor that I have is an SK578. The specs seem the same, would that be right to use?

Thanks.
Regards, Mark Jones.

The SK578 sounds like the early one?, I don`t have it listed in any of my catalogues, what dose it say on the ignitor?
Best check with Colin before you try it ;)

SON 50-600w, MH/CDM 35-250w, CDO 70-250. 5Kv max ignition pulse. Wiring diagram looks the same.

All you can do is try it?, ignition voltage sounds a bit high though, their usually anout 2.3KV.

the SK578 Ignitor is a Modern and Current Ignitor, and Should be OK, as a replacement for the SN58, also SON Lamps from 100w and above and All Metal Halide Lamp use 4500 volt (4.5kv) or 5000 volt (5kv) Ignitors to strike the Lamp

2300 volt or 2.3kv ignitors are normally used for 35, 50 and 70 watt SON Lamps

for Leaflet on the SK578 see
HERE date 20th March 2012

All the Best

Colin
