Re: fittings up for Grabs or going to be skipped

Ah, in that case i will leave it. I already have 4 grey sided pop packs, I'd like to give someone else who hasn't yet got one a chance.

Re: fittings up for Grabs or going to be skipped

As expected LOL. They might look small form the outside but they are like a tardis' on the inside. Reminds me that i managed to fit 3 massive 6' fittings and 6 5' fittings in, with 4 large diffusers, and some 8' tubes, and some smaller tubes too, with a bit of room to spare for a few other bits and ...

I'm in the same boat as Paul tbh. If I lived closer I'd have some items from you, but there's no way i can get to yours at this point in time.
Only out of interest what fittings and lengths are available?

Re: Prismatic diffuser (Pop Pack)

I love the prismatic Pop pack diffusers, especially since you can only see the tube at a certain angle. I have great memories of the (very few) prismatic ones we had at our high school. They were mainly on some SRS Atlas pop packs (no longer there sadly :crying ) and the odd one or two Thorn pop pac...

Re: Your first SL lamp?

 good story Rich. had a good laugh with that. My box of 6 SL*9's came off Ebay, after convincing my Auntie to buy me a box. they turned up and i paid her for them. i had to sneak them into the house whilst my dad was asleep. a month later, he saw them, and immediately liked them. when he said &...

Re: Greeted by LED main road street lights! NOT IMPRESSED!!

Tenbys recently downgraded all the side roads from SOX/SON to rubbish 18 LED Stella's, removing SOX gamma 6's, the final mercury lantern in the town, MI36's, Sapphires and a few more lanterns... Not happy at all :crying :x

Re: Old Street Lighting on StreetView

I got a bunch of rare old lights i think may of be interest to everyone. we start off with a MK1 AEI Residential for two 2' 40W tubes. nearby we have a Sugg gas lantern that takes 6 gas mantles. across the road we have one of 3 GEC Z8526??? that take 250W mercury lamps. on the side of a derelict bui...

theres not many companies making fluorescent tubes now, does this mean we have to resort to cheap tubes that last 2 minutes?

Imo, easiest thing is full strip down and repaint. if the paint was still on the fitting and not flaking i would've suggest heavy elbow grease with the brasso.

Re: Concrete Streetlight Columns

There were 3 columns at the end of a street quite nearby to us, where they had cracked below the door level, in fact, im pretty sure a sign bolted to one column and the wall behind another column were the only things holding those up. needless to say they were replaced with *sigh* Holophane QSS :vomit

Curved Glass for my Revo Cut-off lantern

Hi all as some of you may know i now have a Revo C13723/T Cut off lantern, Courtesy of Mikey, (CSD) which is missing all its glass. All the parts are curved pieces of glass. the main lens is clear, but there are two rimpled mirrored pieces internally, that act as reflectors, and additional light con...

Re: LED Street Lighting VS SON?

They do replace burnt out gear in lanterns around here. but as of since when a SOX lamp fails of 90W and 135W, the pointlessly replace the whole lantern, so you end up with SOX and then the random cozmo lantern inbetween them.

Re: LED Street Lighting VS SON?

I have to agree with Ash there. On top of that, its cost and practicality too. not everything can be replaced in an LED fitting (well it can but its stupid expensive) whereas SON lanterns can more-or-less be gutted and replacement gear/lamps fitted, which works out cheaper than replacing the whole l...

I'm not entirely sure. looking at the ones i've seen (and actually bending the bowl) it does seem to hold its structure well.
